Apartment Building Owners Not Liable for Injuries Sustained by Tenant
Facing claims of negligence, the owners of an apartment building turned to the Larkin Hoffman real estate litigation team for defense. A guest at the building, who sustained injuries when he slipped on exterior stairs, claimed that the owners/managers negligently maintained the premises and demanded an award of tens of thousands of dollars. Larkin Hoffman attorney Julie Nagorski assisted as co-counsel and argued the hearing on the clients’ motion for summary judgment, presenting evidence that the owners could not be liable because they were unaware of the condition, and seeking an award of attorneys’ fees and costs in bringing the motion. The court granted the owners’ motion in full, dismissing the plaintiff’s claims and awarding the owners the entire amount requested for its legal fees and costs.
