Legislative Approval of Key Funding Authority for Mall of America Expansion
|
Mall of America, an internationally recognized retail and entertainment attraction, relied upon the services of Larkin Hoffman's legislative team for assistance in securing authority from the Minnesota legislature for new tax revenues to support Phase II development of the property. Larkin Hoffman attorneys Bill Griffith and Peter Coyle led a team of lawyers, lobbyists and financial analysts in a two-year effort to secure public funding of needed infrastructure for the project, which will more than double the size of Mall of America. Central to the effort was coordination of grass roots support for the project from contractors, the building trades and hospitality interests. The Larkin Hoffman team also included Jerry Seck, Marnie Moore and Karin Holt, who played significant roles in obtaining approval of the measure from key committees and leadership. Mall of America includes an indoor theme park, aquarium, miniature golf and hundreds of the nation's premiere retailers. When completed in all phases, the project will be the largest of its kind in North America. |
