    Larkin Hoffman is pleased to announce that Brenda Greenhalgh has been honored as the recipient of the 2015 Bob Hoffman Community Service Award. Brenda, who recently celebrated her 10-year anniversary at the firm, assists the Salvation Army in its annual bell ringing campaign, coordinates fundraising efforts for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life, and spearheads the firm’s bake sale each year to help a local food pantry and people with special needs. She has also served on the board of the Burnsville Minnesota-Valley Figure Skating Club.

  • Larkin Hoffman Attorneys Obtain Court Order for Client After Uncompensated Taking of Restaurant’s Highway Access

    In late 2015, Larkin Hoffman litigation attorneys Gary Van Cleve, Rob Stefonowicz, and Bryan Huntington successfully obtained a court order requiring MnDOT to initiate condemnation proceedings based upon its uncompensated taking of a property’s road access. The property at issue is the site of the once-successful restaurant known as the “Black Stallion,” situated on Highway 52 in the City of Hampton.

  • Minnesota Supreme Court Refuses to Hear Appeal of Sprinkler Rule Decision

    Peter Coyle, Rob Stefonowicz and Bryan Huntington, representing The Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC), challenged Minnesota’s “Sprinkler Rule” and won. The Minnesota Supreme Court determined last week that it would not review the October Minnesota Court of Appeals decision that invalidated the rule.

  • Minnesota Court of Appeals Invalidates Sprinkler Rule

    10/13/2015

    In a landmark decision filed today, the Minnesota Court of Appeals issued a declaratory judgment invalidating the “Sprinkler Rule” adopted by the Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry (DLI).  Peter Coyle, Rob Stefonowicz and Bryan Huntington, representing the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC), brought the challenge to the rule which had required sprinklers in newly-constructed single- and two-family homes, except for those single-family homes under 4,500 square feet.  BATC alleged that the rule requiring sprinklers was invalid because it was adopted outside DLI’s rulemaking authority, violated the constitutional requirement of substantive due process, and was adopted in a manner that violated statutory rulemaking procedure.  The Court of Appeals agreed on all counts.
