Larkin Hoffman attorneys Bill Griffith and Gary Van Cleve moderated industry panel discussions during the seminar “The Promise and Pain of Transit-Oriented Development” held Tuesday, Oct. 3. During two roundtable discussions, panelists discussed the advantages and obstacles related to new transit projects. The project development discussion focused on issues facing developers of transit-oriented projects, including special zoning and design requirements, permitting and local government. Speakers on the property takings panel discussed challenges and potential litigation for existing property owners affected by new light rail corridors, including condemnation, relocation and construction interference, approvals, bonding, parking issues, noise mitigation and lighting.
